Mohsen Rostami, PhD, PEng
Mohsen Rostami, BSc, MSc, MSc, PhD, PEng is a professional Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer with +15 years experiences of working in aerospace industries. Dr. Rostami has graduated with a GPA of A+ from Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), Department of Aerospace Engineering with a focus on the multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) of small and eVTOL aircraft. Also, he did a graduate research internship program focusing on the use of eXtended Reality (Virtual Reality / Augmented Reality and Haptics) in the aerospace industry.
Mohsen has extensive experience in the aerospace industry, ranging from Aero/Flight Dynamics/Stability & Control Engineer to Aerospace Simulation Engineer. He was the design team lead at Columbiad from 2019 to 2020 and is currently the AI+XR Project Lead at Veyond Metaverse, focusing on industrial solutions using advanced XR technologies. He holds master's degrees in Aerospace Engineering (University of Tehran) and Mechanical Engineering (York University). As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at TMU, Mohsen mentors students and conducts research on Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and XR applications in Aerospace, publishing his findings and developing immersive control stations.
As an educator, Dr. Rostami is deeply committed to fostering critical thinking, innovation, and inclusivity in the classroom. At Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), he currently teaches three courses: Vibrations, Integrated Manufacturing, and Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) of Aerospace Systems, with class sizes ranging from 10 to over 100 students. In Fall 2024, he also taught Flight Dynamics and Control of Aircraft. His teaching philosophy emphasizes bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world applications, ensuring that students are well-prepared to tackle contemporary challenges in engineering.
Mohsen is a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, Canada and is registered as a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario.
Mohsen has written over 250 non-academic papers about all types of air and space crafts. Also, he has more than 20 academic journals and numerous conference presentations in the Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering fields. Mohsen is a member of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering (CSME), the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute (CASI) and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).
Mohsen has been the reviewer of several papers from various publications such as AIAA Journal of Aircraft, Aerospace Science and Technology, IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Magazine, Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, Aerospace, Energies, Vehicles, Sustainability and Applied Sciences.
